In aromatherapy: diffused in the atmosphere Melissa essential oil has a fresh, citrusy fragrance, it helps counteract the negative effects of stress and induces positivity; its calming notes are also useful for sleep problems, especially with difficulty in falling asleep. It has flatulence relieving and anti-spasmolytic properties, when added to a vegetable carrier oil. Massaged in a circular motion on the abdomen, it relieves tension and bloating. In dilution it can be used over the whole body for massages with a relaxing and anti-stress effect. Used locally, it soothes pain after insect bites.

Recommended doses massages: 2-3% solution in a carrier oil (40-60 drops in 100 ml, or 5-6 drops in a spoonful for on-the-spot preparation) suitable for most areas of the body; 1% solution in a carrier oil or base cream (20 drops in 100 ml, or 2 drops in a spoonful for on-the-spot preparation) for delicate areas of the body and delicate skin types;

aromatic baths: 15 drops in 3 spoonfuls of honey, natural marine salt or neutral liquid soap;

airborne: 10 drops in an aroma or vaporizer lamp.

In cosmetics: it is used for its perfuming/flavoring, anti-inflammatory, purifying and tonic properties.

applications: as a fragrance component in cosmetics, soaps and perfumes; as a purifier in products for the treatment of greasy hair and skin, as well as for dandruff; in cleansing tonics and milks as an invigorating and revitalizing agent.

recommended doses: up to 10-15 drops per every 100 grams of product, add at temperatures below 40°C.
