Benefits of exfoliation in summer

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN:

SKIN'S BEST FRIEND IN SUMMER?!? THE SCRUB

A common misconception often states that exfoliation tends to remove the tan. On the contrary, regular scrubbing procedures help to prolong the tan by making it even, providing radiance to the skin, making the tan glow and minimising the appearance of cellulite and orange peel.
Exfoliation removes dead cells found on the most superficial layer of the epidermis, you should also not be afraid to get rid of your tan with a scrub, as deep cleansing does not affect your complexion, in fact it helps to prevent the formation of dark spots from sun exposure; in fact, it is particularly useful in summer, as regular exfoliation is the best way to prepare the skin for the sun, but also to highlight your tan and make it last longer, by encouraging cell turnover.  A scrub, in summer, performed at least a couple of times a week can also help circulation, in short, it is the ideal ally before, during and after the holidays!

EXFOLIATION: Characteristics and differences

You may have already heard of certain types of exfoliation, they fall into two macro-categories: mechanical and chemical; here is a small guide to make life easier for those who want to add an exfoliator to their routine but don't know how to find their way around.

  • Mechanical exfoliation (Scrub) : The scrub is immediately recognisable as it carries out physical/mechanical exfoliation through micro-granules in the formula; in scrubs we always find small particles that rub against the skin to remove the layer of dead skin cells. The delicacy of this type of product also depends on the size of the particles used (the smaller they are, the less aggressive the scrub will be), and on the intensity of the massage during application.
For sensitive skin it is better to choose more delicate scrubs with very small particles and to massage gently without rubbing too much, like our beloved CHOCO SCRUB, an innovative body exfoliator with apricot kernel powder, with a high smoothing power, it removes dead cells and promotes cell renewal for a fresh, soft and smooth skin, it is the perfect ally for a nourished, smooth and moisturised skin.

When to use the scrub?

The ideal time is in the evening, so that during the night the skin has time to calm any irritation and redness caused by rubbing, the frequency of use changes depending on the type of product and skin type as long as it is a gentle scrub.

How is it used?

The body scrub is usually done in the shower, starting from the ankle towards the buttocks, from the hands up to the shoulders and always making circular movements, the points where to act with greater pressure are the heels, knees and elbows, where the skin is usually drier and thicker, it should also be performed at least once a week and even better in the evening, in order to purify, revitalise and soften the skin on the face and body.

  •  Chemical exfoliation: Known as peeling, it basically performs the same process as physical exfoliation, removing the dead cells deposited on the epidermis, but to do so it uses substances such as acids or enzymes, capable of loosening the bonds of the cells, so as to remove them along with the other impurities. Chemical exfoliation, therefore, involves epidermal renewal and the removal of dead cells using exfoliating acids, usually derived from fruit or other natural substances, such as our Body Acid Peeling 90/60/90, which contains Lemon Extract, Glycolic Acid, Citric Acid and Mandelic Acid to promote cell turnover, stimulating the production of new cells and also facilitating the absorption of the active ingredients contained in the creams applied immediately after the treatment. Rich in organic plant extracts such as Aloe, Calendula, Mallow and Marshmallow with their soothing, moisturising and protective properties, it leaves the skin renewed, radiant and soft while improving its natural complexion.

How to use?

Soak a cotton wool pad with the product and apply it to the affected areas, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly with water. After eliminating dead cells, do not forget to continue moisturising and nourishing the skin: the hydrolipid layer of the skin is weakened and therefore needs to be re-established through emollient oils and nourishing creams.
If you don't have any particular problems, you can also use it for the face, leaving it on for 2/3 minutes and rinsing thoroughly; for particularly sensitive or reactive skin we recommend patch testing about 24 hours beforehand.

Curiosity:

perhaps not everyone knows that smoothing the skin with exfoliating products is not only a prerogative of women but, according to dermatologists, allows a better shave in the case of men.
